OVERVIEW
of the CRIME
Two weeks ago our victim, DR. WEALTHY PATRIARCH, along with the rest of his family, went to a private viewing his son's latest painting exhibit. The party included WEALTHY PATRIARCH, his wife (CHARITABLE WIFE), his daughter (ADOPTED DAUGHTER), his son (REBELLIOUS SON), his son’s wife (SCHEMING IN-LAW), and his longtime assistant (FAMILY EMPLOYEE).

While the group mingled and enjoyed their champagne, DR. WEALTHY PATRIARCH suddenly grabbed his throat, collapsed, convulsed violently, and soon after died. Suspicions of poisoning heightened after an opened bottle of nitric acid was found in the gallery's storage room. This room is also where the champagne was poured. The coroner later confirmed the cause of death to be nitric acid poisoning.
The victim and his family were the only people in the gallery. They all had access to the storage room with the champagne and the acid. Everyone except ADOPTED DAUGHTER drank the champagne, because she does not drink. Also, all of the champagne was poured before the group arrived and was handed out in no particular order.

Was DR. WEALTHY PATRIARCH the intended victim? If so, how did the murderer ensure that he was the only person who was poisoned? Further, was the acid added when the drinks were poured or after they were passed out? Hopefully, the evidence we have gathered along with your expertise will allow you to discover answers to these questions.
